Resume Tips for B.Tech and BCA Freshers

By the Codveri team ·

A one-page resume structure that passes screening, what to put in projects, and mistakes that get resumes rejected.

Keep it to one page

A fresher has one page of material. Put your name, email, phone, LinkedIn and GitHub at the top, then education, skills, projects and any internship, in that order unless you have strong work experience.

Write projects that prove skill

For each project, give one line on what it does, one line on the tools you used, and one line on the result: a number is best. 'Built a timetable app used by 120 students' reads better than 'Made a web app'. Link the live site and the code.

Skills section

List the skills you can discuss in an interview and group them: languages, frameworks, databases, tools. Do not list skills you have only watched a video about. Add a verified rating if you have one, since it is evidence a recruiter can check.

Make it readable by machines and people

Use a simple layout, a standard font and plain headings. Avoid tables, photos and graphics that confuse screening software. Save as PDF and name the file with your name and role.

Common mistakes

Spelling errors, an unprofessional email address, listing every school subject, copying a template with someone else's text and exaggerating. Interviewers ask about every line, so keep each line true.
